Description
Calcitic lime (calcium carbonate, CaCO₃) is the most widely used soil pH corrector in Kenyan agriculture. Primeview’s calcitic lime is sourced from high-purity limestone deposits, finely ground for maximum reactivity, and tested to ensure consistent neutralising value.
Most soils in Kenya’s highlands — including the Central, Rift Valley, and Western regions — are naturally acidic due to high rainfall and years of intensive cropping. Soil acidity limits nutrient availability, damages root systems, and reduces the effectiveness of fertilizers. Liming is the single most cost-effective intervention to unlock your soil’s full productive potential.
Key Benefits:
- Raises soil pH to the ideal range (6.0 – 6.5) for most crops
- Neutralises toxic aluminium and manganese in acidic soils
- Supplies high levels of calcium for strong root and plant development
- Improves the uptake and efficiency of applied fertilizers (NPK, DAP, CAN)
- Promotes beneficial soil microbial activity
- Long-lasting effect — one application lasts 2–4 years
Recommended crops: Maize, beans, potatoes, vegetables, tea, wheat, sorghum, and pyrethrum.
Application rate: 1–3 tonnes per acre based on soil pH test. Apply and incorporate into the soil 4–6 weeks before planting for best results.
Packaging: 50kg bags | Bulk orders available.
